Public charging stations

The public charging network is already well established in Switzerland and is being continuously expanded. The same goes for neighbouring countries. Around 2100 locations are available for charging electric vehicles in Switzerland, with a total of 7000 charging connections including fast charging stations at motorway service areas. There are over 230 000 public charging stations in Europe, most of which are found in Western Europe. A range of apps are available to show drivers where the next charging station is and whether it is currently free.

The availability of charging stations for electric vehicles in Switzerland is also displayed in real time on several platforms. This enables drivers of electric vehicles to find a free charging station at any time and head straight for it:

The multistorey car charger concept: park and charge your electric car during the day or night and at weekends

Anyone driving an electric car or thinking of buying one has to consider the issue of access to a charger. That is now no longer a problem at several places in the city of Zurich: the AMAG Group has just opened two multistorey car chargers in Zurich in its Utoquai and Kongress multistorey car parks.

In these multistorey car parks, local residents, commuters and businesses can not only park their cars safely during the day or night and at weekends, they can take advantage of car-charging facilities for several hours at fair prices. Long-term subscribers to the e-subscription, which includes the costs of electricity, have no less than 50 state-of-the-art charger bays to choose from in Utoquai and a further 28 in the Kongress multistorey.

This is a particularly welcome option for local residents who use their cars to travel to work in the day and need to recharge them at night. A further benefit is that, if they rent a space in one of the multistorey car chargers, they do not need to search for a free space in the blue zone.

During late autumn 2022, around 61 charging bays will be installed in the Messe Zurich multistorey carpark in Oerlikon, where long-term parking including the costs of charging will become available to rent.
