Climate and environmental protection are a top priority for technology group RUAG. It has therefore joined the Exemplary Energy and Climate initiative of the Swiss Federal Office of Energy and supports Energy Strategy 2050 goals with various measures. They focus on energy efficiency and climate protection with regard to production means and infrastructure. A key project is changing over the company’s fleet of pool vehicles to electric cars. The RUAG fleet management has opted for all-electric models. The first four vehicles, Volkswagen ID.3 models, went into service at the company’s Emmen site in October 2021. This coincided with the installation of 10 electric charging stations at the site. More electric cars are being put into service continuously. By the end of 2023, the company aims to install a total of 50 battery-electric vehicles across all RUAG sites in Switzerland. In the upcoming three years, RUAG aims to replace 80 per cent of its pool passenger vehicles with electric models and to install some 70 charging stations across all sites. Bern, Stans and Thun are next in line after Emmen.
