Škoda: Laurin & Klement E

The Czech brand Škoda first began experimenting with electrified cars at the beginning of the last century. The Laurin & Klement E model from 1908 was the first hybrid vehicle from Mlada Boleslav. The drive system was powered by an electric motor. The additional 28 hp petrol generator was only used to supply the necessary electricity, meaning that the Škoda Laurin & Klement E has no need of a battery. Škoda developed an electric truck in the 1930s, and various versions of the Eltra 151 based on the Favorit and Pickup models in the 1990s. Some of the Eltra models, which were otherwise used mainly by the Czech Post Office, also reached Switzerland. From 2011 onwards, Škoda gained valuable insights into modern electric mobility with 10 prototypes of the Octavia Green E Line.
